Grocery Store Gift Card Giveaway (WINNER UPDATE)

*Winner Update*

I was impressed with all the different and delish sounding ways ya’ll cook pork! I never realized how boring my pork dishes were till I started reading the entries.

The winner, chosen at random, is Lee with “I prepare pork loin in the crockpot. I combine 1 can of whole cranberry sauce, 1Tbsp. of Dijon mustard, 1/2 onion, chopped, 1 Tbsp. of brown sugar and a splash of apple cider vinegar. The cranberry compote is wonderful as a “gravy” on mashed potatoes!”

Congratulations Lee! Be on the lookout for an email from me. Thanks to the rest of you for all these wonderful recipe suggestions! I can’t wait to give them a try.

As I mentioned the other week, I did not win the Food Lion Frugal Cook-Off but I did have lots of fun! I got to meet a lot of neat bloggers, had a great teammate, and got to experience a Top Chef type challenge.

Now to the point of this post…Food Lion was very generous in not only sponsoring the event but also providing a $100 gift card for each blogger to share with their readers!

To enter the contest, please share a comment below answering the question…what is your favorite way to cook pork? I will pick the winner next Monday morning.

My favorite way to cook pork? Hmmm….I like to use my Daddy’s home made BBQ sauce (he got it from the Clemson Extension office a LONG time ago). I grill the chops on the first side, and when I flip them over, I brush or spoon on the sauce….YUM! The sauce is SO much better than most (all in my opinion) bottled sauces…..vinegar based and home made is always better. Then I serve it with grilled vegetables, a pasta salad (if I haven’t forgotten to make it earlier in the day to get nice and cold), and the best dessert is grilled pineapple or a Jamaican pineapple upside down cake! Now THAT’s my favorite way to cook pork…..if you would like the sauce recipe, just let me know and I can easily email it to you.

I would say mine is the recipe my husband, Drew, introduced me to, which I refer to as “pig on pig.” You make roll-ups/pinwheels with slices of pork loin and bacon. Then you cover them in a sauce which is basically a mustard bbq sauce with pecans. Cook them on a grill, adding more sauce as you cook. It’s really one of those most amazing things I’ve ever eaten!

I have always not liked pork chops because when I made them, they were dry.
I use the crockpot. I put them on the bottom, turn it on high. I add cream of mushroom soup, milk, dijon mustard, 1/2 a packet of lipton onion soup mix, and mushrooms. You leave it on high for 4 hours. It is AMAZING, and falls apart, literally! It is so tender. I now LOVE pork chops!!
Thanks for the chance! We have a Food Lion right up the road!! 🙂

My mother in law taught me how to grill a pork butt last summer, it was fantastic. Low and slow and so very flavorful!

  7. I like to make pulled pork in the slow cooker. Just add onion, garlic and seasoning to it and leave it overnight.

  8. I like to season it with Dale’s seasoning, and Cattleman’s BBQ Sauce. I then grill it on the grill outside. That’s my favorite way to cook pork.

  9. My favorite way to cook pork is either in Vietnamese egg rolls or Banh Cuon (pork in a rice wrapper), but my family’s favorite way is pan fried pork chops (which I use the leftovers to make fried rice the following day).

I like to put it in the slow cooker and pull it to make pulled pork sandwiches

I like grilled teriyaki pork chop.

  12. I deep fry mine in the skillet and add bbq sauce at the end.

  13. I like mine cooked in a skillet and then covered in mushroom sauce!

  14. I really love cooking pork tenderloins on the grill; either seasoned with herbs and garlic or wrapped in bacon and seasoned with herbs and garlic. (I love garlic and thankfully so does my hubs.)

  15. Betsy Barnes says:

My favorite pork recipe is slow cooking a pork butt roast with some onions and garlic in the slow cooker. I can then use the meat in various recipes, bbq pulled pork sandwiches, pork tacos or freeze for future casserole recipes 🙂

  16. Mami2jcn says:

    I like barbecued pork ribs.

I really like to make pork in the crock pot. My wife thinks that is the healthiest way to cook it! She is a nutritionist! 🙂
